Before you delete

You may wish to download a copy of your data first: in the app, go to Settings, then Download a copy of your data. Once your account has been deleted, we cannot provide a copy.

Deleting your account in the app

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Delete account.
  3. Confirm with your password or, if you sign in with emailed codes and have no password, with the code we email you.

Deletion takes effect immediately and cannot be undone. If your receipt photos cannot be removed at that moment, nothing is deleted and the app asks you to try again, so that no photo is left behind after your account is gone.

Requesting deletion by email

If you can no longer use the app, write to [email protected] from the email address associated with your account, with the subject “Delete my account” and the name of the app (Zocery). You do not need the app, a device or a password to do this. We will verify that the request comes from that address, delete the account within 30 days and confirm when this is done.

Deleting part of your data

You can keep your account and delete specific data in the app: a receipt (including its photo and the information read from it), an item, a list you own or a reminder, and you can cancel an invitation. To request the removal of data you cannot reach in the app, write to us at the same address.

What is deleted

  • Your account: name, email address, password hash, sign-in sessions and notification tokens.
  • Your receipts, including their photos and all information read from them, and your purchase history.
  • Your reminders, labels, categories, notification settings, dismissed “running low” suggestions, and your family and friends connections.
  • Lists of which you are the only member, with their items, and the invite codes you created for lists that other members keep (those codes stop working).
  • Invitations you sent, and invitations sent to your email address by others.
  • Sign-in codes sent to your address, any email suppression record for your address, and your address on the launch notification list, if present.
  • A household with no other members.
  • On your device: deleting your account in the app clears its stored copy of your lists, any changes waiting to be sent, the remembered sign-in and the widget snapshot. If you request deletion by email instead, this data remains on the device until you sign out or uninstall the app.

What is retained, and why

  • A list you share with others is transferred to another member, so that they do not lose it. Items you added remain on the list without your name, and items you ticked remain ticked without your name.
  • Backups: your data may remain in database backups for up to 35 days, until those backups are overwritten. We do not restore deleted accounts.
  • Emails already delivered, such as invitations you sent, remain in the recipients’ inboxes and are outside our control.
